Last year about this time Aynae tried out for middle school basketball, however she did not make it. After coming out of the gym in tears I asked her was she ready to work so that this would not happen next year. Her response was yes, so I signed her up with training at FBG. Coach Anderson and Coach Avery worked with her on various fundamentals, constantly pushing her to become better. She did this for about a year. Well I am happy to say that Aynae tried out again this year and has successfully made the team. Her confidence and knowledge about the game has increased 100%. She wants to play more and is now even more determined to become better at the game. Coach Anderson and Coach Avery are always available for questions and kept us informed about her progress. This program is well worth the investment!

FBG has done wonders to bring my son Amari along.  Amari's love for the game of basketball, which is so obviously shared by FBG and its staff, has been cultivated with enthusiasm.  Amari, in his first year of playing team ball has come so far with the fundamentals that he learned during FBG's Sunday League as well as the individual attention he is given during his weekly development sessions.  I have no doubt that Coach Anderson and the rest of the FBG staff will continue to help Amari learn the fundamentals as well as to take his passion for basketball to the next level of play.  Thank you FBG!

Hello David,

I would like to take the time to thank you and your staff at Foundation Basketball for the fine work you have done for both of my children.  I am especially impressed with the training that my daughter Ryen received at your facility.  Since working with you, her game has improved ten-fold; she is much stronger and her defensive game has changed immensely. Working with you was an integral part of her receiving her full athletic scholarship to Hampton University.  She has gone down there to play with a new found confidence that she had been lacking for quite a while.  I am so grateful to you for bringing out the best in her and allowing us to be a part of your Foundation Basketball Family!!  Keep doing what you do best...building better ball players!!  Thank you for everything....much continued success to you and Foundation Basketball.

Hope Henry

Wow!  What a difference the Foundation Basketball program has made for my son, Karl.  I have seen both his confidence level and his skill level increase.  Coach David Anderson and his staff have done a great job with finding the individual needs for my son and the others and building upon those needs to make them better team players.  I drive approximately 45 miles 2 or 3 times a week for the program.  The quality of service received is well worth the drive.  I know that being a part of this program is one of the reasons that Karl was successful in making his middle school basketball team this year.  I am now a solid member of the Foundation family and recommend it highly for anyone interested in seeing their child improve and move to the next level.

Norrin has been attending the Foundation Basketball Group for 4 months now and we've already seen a tremendous improvement in his all around skill set; dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and footwork. The lessons that he's being taught are laying the foundation that he needs to successful on and off the court. He loves basketball and he also understands that as he gets older "no grades, no basketball", so being able to attend his sessions is a reward for him. His confidence has grown because he now knows that he can accomplish anything with a little hard work and commitment.

We drive 30 minutes to get to practice 2 - 3 times per week and everyday there's a new takeaway. His dribbling has improved dramatically and that's a direct result of Coach Q and the patience he's shown Norrin, who before this training could barely catch a basketball without it slipping out of his hands. Coach Avery has done an excellent job at helping Norrin with his footwork which is very essential in the game of basketball. Norrin mentioned to me the other day that he likes to go on Fridays. When asked why he stated "I like to work with Coach Anderson 1 on 1". He's so excited about the program that he's already dressed and ready to go before I even get home.

There are programs that are closer to us but Norrin absolutely loves the Staff at Foundation Basketball and the relationships that the kids establish with the Coaches makes the decision to continue his training at FBG an easy decision to make.

Yoseph and I met you this past summer when I brought Yoseph in for what turned out to be 3  1-on-1 sessions with you (and Ryan). If you recall, Yoseph and I were visiting my parents in Richmond from Doha, Qatar, where we've been living the past 3 years. After Yospeh's last session, you asked me to drop you a line periodically to tell you how Yoseph is developing. While looking for something else, I just happened upon one of your business cards in my desk drawer and decided to take a moment to give you a quick update.

Though basketball season hasn't officially started yet, Yoseph and his teammates from his school's JV and varsity teams regularly play pick up games for 2 hours on the weekends since school opened in mid August. I always enjoy watching the first session or 2 each year because all of the guys are seeing each other after 3 months away and checking each other out- who grew the most and who learned what new skills over the summer. I think at the end of that first session a lot of the guys were thinking that "something got into Yoseph this summer", because he matured so much as a player.

And while Yoseph enjoyed the training sessions with you guys and learned a lot of drills and fine points of positioning, etc., the real benefit from the training wasn't apparent until he got onto the court with his crew here. From the first whistle, Yoseph was playing with a higher level of confidence and, in my eyes, with more new skills than any other kid in the gym. He's always been known offensively as a kid with a good jump shot and as an unselfish passer, but he returned to the court in August with a determination to get to the basket more aggressively. His dribbling is more controlled, his footwork is a lot better, and he is mindful of shooting his jumper more efficiently. Though it is still a work in progress, he is playing with a confidence level that says "I know I belong here with the big boys".

He came to Richmond contemplating whether he should play JV ball again this winter (as a 10th grader) or going up to varsity (something the varsity coach asked him to consider). After seeing his development recently, I am confident that if he decides to play varsity this year that he is ready for that challenge.

My only regret about his work with you guys is that we didn't find you sooner than we did last summer. With the level of improvement already apparent after 3 sessions, I shudder to think how much better he could be now if he could have had 6 - 10 training sessions with Foundation Basketball last summer.

Next summer, we expect to move back to the US, most likely Houston. But, if Yoseph ends up spending his summer in Richmond, I'll be sure my dad brings him over to work with you guys again while he is in town. Thanks for everything.

As you can tell, my son hasn't had the opportunity to play very much 'organized' (team play) basketball. He has played in the recreation leagues since he was 7, but there just aren't boys in the neighborhood who come out and play or show interest. The team play has not been sustainable.  Also, knowledge of the game and just the general ability to set these young boys up for success has been lacking.  He wants to play.  Yesterday I noticed that he is getting more comfortable moving around the court and is taking shots and making mistakes without beating himself up afterwards.  I see him now instead continuing on to the 'next thing' - to try his best again.  David, this huge.  He has battled this his whole life and your program has already begun to help build his confidence.  I could go on, but suffice it to say that we are grateful for the work you are doing.  The basketball court can be a great life classroom.  My opinion is that it can be one of the best.  But it takes a good professor to make it work.
